When we started NioDsign, we didn't have a large warehouse with hundreds of t-shirts.
We had some ideas, some hand-drawn designs, and a desire to create clothes we ourselves would want to wear.
That hasn't really changed.
That's why we've chosen to produce our clothes on demand.
Why don't we just make a lot at once?
It's easy to make a lot of clothes.
What's harder is knowing how many you'll actually sell.
If we produce 500 t-shirts and only sell 200, we're left with 300 t-shirts that no one asked for. They have to be stored, sold later, or, at worst, left sitting around.
We don't think that makes much sense.
Instead, the garment is produced only after you've ordered it.
You order. We start production. Then the garment is made and sent to you.
This means you might have to wait a little longer than you would for a t-shirt already in stock. But in return, we actually produce what is ordered.
It also aligns with how NioDsign started
NioDsign started quite simply.
With hand-drawn designs on simple white t-shirts around the kitchen table. Not with a grand plan to make thousands of garments, but with an idea to create something personal, simple, and timeless.
We still have much of the same philosophy today.
We don't need to make as much as possible.
We'd rather make something we believe people actually want to wear.
We believe in clothes that last
For us, it's not just about how long a t-shirt physically lasts.
It's also about how long you want to wear it.
A good t-shirt doesn't need a big print or a new look every season. Sometimes, it's the simple garments you end up wearing the most.
That's why we like clean designs, good materials, and colors that work over time.
The goal isn't to make a t-shirt you wear once.
The goal is to make the t-shirt you put on again next week.
And the week after that.
We are not perfect
Producing on demand doesn't solve all challenges related to clothing and production.
We won't claim that NioDsign is a perfect or 100% sustainable clothing brand.
But we believe it's better to start with some simple choices that make sense for us.
Not producing large quantities of clothes just to have them in stock is one of them.
For us, it's really about making less, but with more thought behind it.
An idea.
A design.
A garment.
And then let it grow from there.
Growth isn't loud. It blooms.
